Texas Portfolio Review was started by counselors who built their own portfolios first — and got into the schools they were aiming for. We started this because the guidance we needed didn't really exist where we grew up, so we built it.
Traditional college counselors are generalists — they're rarely equipped to speak to what a strong art or architecture portfolio actually needs, because most have never built one. We think that gap matters, since for these programs the portfolio isn't a supplement to the application. It is the application.
Our counseling doesn't come from a script. It comes from actual studio experience, years of research into what admissions committees are actually looking for, and firsthand experience going through the process ourselves at Cornell AAP, RISD, USC, UT Austin, Pratt, Parsons, and SCAD.

Hey, I'm Helina, a current sophomore at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) majoring in Illustration. I've won multiple Scholastic Keys and several #1s in State art competition. I've been doing art for over 10 years now and gotten accepted into the country's top art schools.

Hey, I'm Ethan! I'm a current freshman at Cornell University in AAP studying Architecture (B.Arch). I have over 7 years of experience drawing, painting, and creating in art studios, and have won 6 Scholastic Awards, including a Silver Key for my senior year Portfolio. In architecture, I have interned at HINES Architecture+Design for the past two summers working on adaptive reuse models, and have also studied at two prestigious pre-college programs. I'm excited to work with students to help them achieve their dreams!
